Aldwych Black Round Coffee Table 82cm – Sculptural GFRC Design

Aldwych Black Round Coffee Table 82cm

Aldwych Black is a round coffee table with a bold, sculptural presence. Its cylindrical form is defined by hand-sculpted, wave-like ridges that wrap around the base, creating depth, movement and a strong architectural character.

The deep black finish makes the table a striking focal point, particularly when paired with light upholstery, natural timber, stone and soft neutral interiors.

Black Round Coffee Table with Sculptural Detail

Measuring 81.5cm in diameter, Aldwych offers a practical surface while maintaining a compact footprint. The round shape works particularly well with sofas, corner sofas and armchairs, helping to soften more angular furniture arrangements.

Its layered ridged surface gives the table a more decorative quality, making it suitable for interiors where furniture is expected to contribute to the overall composition rather than simply serve a practical function.

Hand-Sculpted Wave-Like Texture

The defining feature of Aldwych Black is its layered, irregular ridged finish. The hand-sculpted surface creates subtle changes in light and shadow throughout the day, giving the table a more tactile and dimensional appearance.

Warm metallic highlights are visible along parts of the textured surface, adding further depth to the black finish without overpowering the overall design.

What is GFRC?

Aldwych Black is made from GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete), a form of concrete reinforced with glass fibres. The material combines the substantial appearance of concrete with the flexibility required to create more refined, sculptural forms.

GFRC is particularly well suited to furniture with curved and textured surfaces, making it a natural choice for the layered profile of the Aldwych coffee table.

Protected Surface for Indoor and Outdoor Use

The surface is sealed with a protective topcoat designed to help resist moisture and staining. Aldwych Black is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, making it a versatile choice for living rooms, lounge areas, covered terraces and patios.

Rubber felt pads are included to help protect flooring.

For outdoor use, we recommend using a protective cover or storing the table indoors during adverse weather. Dark surfaces can become hot in direct sunlight, so the table is best suited to shaded areas and covered outdoor spaces.

Natural Characteristics of the Material

As the table is made from a natural concrete mix, each piece may show subtle variations in colour, texture and surface finish. Minor scratches, small imperfections and non-structural hairline cracks are inherent characteristics of the material and do not affect the integrity of the piece.

These variations help give each Aldwych table its own individual character.

How to Style the Aldwych Black Coffee Table

Aldwych Black works particularly well with cream, ivory, taupe and warm grey upholstery, where the darker finish creates a strong but balanced contrast.

For a more layered scheme, pair it with natural stone, timber, ceramic accessories and black or bronze-toned details. A low decorative bowl, a vase or a small stack of books is enough to complete the look without distracting from the sculptural base.
